  • Introduction to Collaboration Events

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government aims to use “Tokyo Sustainable Finance Week," to promote ESG investing and sustainable finance, and to develop Tokyo’s presence in these fields, which contribute to the development of a sustainable city. This week is coordinated with other events that promote sustainable finance (e.g. PRI).The 11th feature article will introduce the events of other organizations (collaborative events) that will be held during this week.


Introduction to Collaboration Events


An initiative called sustainable financing has become a full-fledged trend among international financial groups and institutional investors.Sustainable investment and financing hold the key to promoting the shift of industrial and corporate activities toward decarbonization,and to circulate funds to the development of innovative green technologies that are essential for such transition.
Financial authorities and central banks in various countries have begun to take action, in consideration of the risks that climate change pose to the financial system.Some European central banks are embarking on sustainable financing through reviewing their assets.

Event Information:
The OECD Forum on Green Finance and Investment is the annual flagship event of the OECD Centre on Green Finance and Investment. Now in its eighth year, the Forum gathers senior policy makers and key public and private actors for action-oriented discussions on green and sustainable finance issues.High-Level speakers during previous editions of the Forum have included notably:

【TIME TO ACT: Climate Action Forum】

Event Information:
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is developing the “TIME TO ACT” climate action movement to accelerate viable decarbonization efforts. TMG is going to hold TIME TO ACT: Climate Action Forum online. This forum will feature discussions about the growing threat of the climate crisis as well as concrete actions to prevent it under the main theme of Accelerating Efforts Toward “Carbon Half” by 2030. There is an online exhibition on the TIME TO ACT official website that corresponds with the Climate Action Forum.

Event Information:
The FIT (Financial Information Technology) is Japan's largest IT fair for financial institutions, organized by the general financial technical paper, Nikkin (The Japan Financial News Co., Ltd.). This year marks the 20th time the event has been held. Over the last 19 events, more than 270,005 financial institutions and stakeholders have visited the site to discuss their business with exhibitors and exchange information. It's highly regarded as the only exhibition in line with financial practical business.

Today, there's only 10 years left until the 2030—the year the SDGs are aimed to have been achieved by—and social structures and people's consciousness are changing to solve various issues, including environmental, human rights, and regional. Against this background, SDGs AICHI EXPO will showcase each organization's efforts through exhibition booths, etc., and hold events like lectures, symposiums, and stage shows through which business people and families alike can have fun learning about SDGs.
